Prof. Jae-joon Han – Boundless Value of Hangeul

»The greatest lesson I have learned over the past 30 years since I fell in love with Hangeul is that Hangeul is a writing system that combines sound, shape, and meaning.« This is how the director of the King Sejong Commemoration Project, chairman of the Korean Society of Typography and professor at Seoul Women’s University Department of Visual Design, Jae-jon Han describes the various impacts of Korea’s unique alphabet, Hangeul.

Following his speech we can plunge into Korea’s history and the various vicissitudes which Hangeul was subjected to.

»Realizing that I could not bear to leave things as they are, I resolved to stand on my own by first bringing life back to Hangeul.« So Prof. Jae-jon Han decided to dedicate his life to this enormous task. An impressing example of real passion.
